We understand that choosing the perfect piece of jewellery is an important and personal decision. To help guide you through the process, we’ve compiled answers to some of the most common questions our clients ask.
Yes, absolutely! We specialise in upcycling pre-loved jewellery. We can value your precious metals, which can be used as part payment for creating something new. It’s usually best to reuse your precious and semi-precious stones, as their resale market isn’t always favourable. This way, we can craft a beautiful and meaningful piece just for you.
White, rose, and yellow gold are all made from gold but differ in colour due to the metals mixed with the gold. White gold has a silvery finish and is often combined with palladium or silver. At the same time, rose gold has a pinkish tone from copper, and yellow gold keeps its traditional warm hue with fewer additional metals.
As for the karats, they indicate the purity of the gold. 9 karat gold contains 37.5% pure gold, 14 is 58.5%, and 18 is 75% pure. Higher karat gold is more valuable but can be softer, making lower karat more durable for everyday wear.
Sterling silver is a classic alloy made from 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper, to add strength. Argentium is a modern type of sterling silver that replaces some copper with germanium, making it more resistant to tarnish and easier to maintain. While both are high-quality silvers, Argentium tends to stay shinier for longer and requires less polishing.
Our quotes have a validity period because the prices of precious metals and the Rand (ZAR) exchange rate change daily. The quote reflects these rates at the time of issue to ensure accuracy.
Once you’ve paid your deposit, we buy the materials right away to secure the price. While we do our best to stick to the quoted amount, market fluctuations can sometimes affect the final price.
We are committed to creating a piece that meets your needs and satisfaction, so we involve you throughout the design process. We work closely with you to ensure the final product reflects your vision. In the rare event that you’re not fully satisfied, we’ll gladly discuss making adjustments. However, depending on the changes required, additional costs may be involved. Please note that the design process is a collaborative journey, and the final result is based on the choices made along the way.
